Mortgage Servicing Specialist - Foreclosure Focus
Location: Minneapolis / New Brighton, MN
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm
Compensation: $21-$29/hr DOE + 8% annual bonus potential upon conversion
About the Role:
We're seeking a detail-oriented Mortgage Servicing Specialist to join our Default and Retention team. This position is key in supporting homeowners through challenging times by managing accounts in default, foreclosure, and bankruptcy, as well as offering alternatives through loan modifications and other solutions. What You'll Do:
Foreclosure Support
- Monitor and manage timelines and legal processes with foreclosure attorneys and vendors
- Prepare and review financial documentation such as payoffs and reinstatement quotes
- Track and document all actions, communication, and delays in internal systems
- Ensure compliance with investor and regulatory guidelines throughout the foreclosure process
Homeowner Retention (Loss Mitigation)
- Review, implement, and process loan modifications, repayment plans, and forbearance agreements
- Communicate with borrowers, real estate agents, and internal stakeholders on file statuses
- Submit and track requests with investors, insurers, and clients for approval
- Maintain clear, timely records in servicing systems and respond to escalations within 24 hours
Bankruptcy Coordination
- Collaborate with bankruptcy attorneys to ensure compliance throughout legal proceedings
- Manage timelines, documentation, and next steps for bankruptcy filings and discharges
- Maintain professional communication with borrowers, trustees, and legal representatives
What You Bring:
- 1-3+ years of experience in mortgage default/retention operations (3-5 years for Senior-level candidates; FHA/GNMA knowledge required for Sr. roles)
- Familiarity with foreclosure processes (judicial/non-judicial), bankruptcy, and loss mitigation tools
- Working knowledge of investor and insurer guidelines (FHA, VA, FNMA, FHLMC, etc.)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and mortgage servicing platforms (AllRegs familiarity a plus)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- High school diploma or GED required
